Hello! I was told by a certain Papa Jape (Killian) to create a thread about this series I'm making. So here it goes.
‘Auld Lang Syne’ is set during the early 1930s on the east coast mainline in Scotland. The series centres around a group of three engines that live at Haymarket sheds: Cedric, Maude and Holmes.
Cedric: A newcomer to Haymarket sheds, he is one of the many engines to trial at Haymarket during its long history. He’s very green, though not in the Doncaster or Darlington sense as he still has a lot to learn about working on a railway. Cedric has an inquisitive mind and is an avid learner, though this has it’s disadvantages such as distracting him from the task at hand and is the route of quite a few incidents.
Maude: Grumpy, pessimistic and bad tempered, Maude is not an enemy you want. He is often teased over his seemingly unfitting name, which, of course, irritates him to no end. Maude is very protective over Haymarket sheds, and even more so of it's pre-grouping residents despite the fact that he himself is relatively new there. He is very suspicious of the LNER engines that now make up the majority of the shed's allocation and has taken a very big disliking to Cedric.
Holmes: Maude’s best friend, though Holmes is prone to teasing him. Out of the two, he’s the youngest, but also the wisest. He sympathises with Cedric, knowing that it’s not easy being a little engine in a big yard and does his best to teach Cedric everything he knows. For a shunter, he's quite intelligent and often likes to read the works of Voltaire, Dickens and (his personal favourite) Arthur Conan Doyle when off duty. Unlike Maude, Holmes has a good rapport with the LNER newcomers and is generally well respected by his ex-NBR shedmates. This often means he's the only engine capable of preventing civil war!
As of yet, only episode one has been released, but episode two has entered production and should be out soon.
