(Blows dust off of old thread) Boy, no one's touched this in a while.
During Summer on the Island of Sodor, lots more visitors arrive on holiday. These extra passengers often overflow the station and cram the already small coaches. In response to this, Sir Topham Hatt scheduled extra trains to lessen the load.
One day, Thomas' Driver, Phil, was reading over the new schedule with the fireman, Bob.
"Well, I'd be darn," Phil murmured, "It seems we need to always beat the seven o'clock train at the tunnel near Mrs. Kyndley's house."
"Yes," Bob agreed, "and from both directions, too."
Unfortunately for the men, Percy happened to overhear them and began to panic.
"Flatten my Funnel! At seven o'clock a train enters the tunnel near Maithwaite from both ends! I must stop the collision!"
So, at seven o'clock sharp, Percy was waiting in the tunnel, where he had stalled and defiantly refused to start, much to his drver's frustration.
Suddenly, he heard the sound of an engine puffing along the line.
"It's Stanley!" Cried the saddle tank, "I must warn him!"
As he waited, he didn't see Stanley come around the track, but he could hear him getting louder. Percy was confused until it slowly dawned on him that he was facing the wrong way...
With an ear splitting roar, the two trains collided and derailed inside of the tunnel.
Later, Thomas and Toby had arrived to help with the cleaning. Thomas was cross.
"Percy," he snapped, "What were you thinking of stalling in that tunnel?!"
"I was trying to stop an accident!" the green engine protested, "An engine enters the tunnel from both ends at seven o'clock!"
Suddenly, Thomas laughed in spite of himself.
"Percy, they would've both made it through without a scratch!"
Percy was confused.
"How," he ventured, "Could two engines entering the same tunnel, at seven o'clock, from two different sides, make it through without a scratch?"
"Because," Thomas howled, "one's at seven a.m. and the other's at seven p.m.!"
Thomas was dawdling when he shunted Gordon's coaches, Gordon became cross as he was now running a few minutes late. Just before he left the platform, Thomas puffed over alongside Gordon. He took one long look at Gordon's face and said, "Gordon, you look steamed!"
A not-so-bright engineer at the Crovan's Gate works wanted to build a 2-10-0 locomotive, so he took James and said "He's a 2-6-0, so all I need to do is some math!" So took Percy, a 0-4-0T and built him inside of James. "There we go!" said the not-so-bright engineer. He called Sir Topham Hatt over and when he came, he gasped! "What have you done to my engines?!" he demanded. "I wanted to make a 2-10-0!" replied the engineer. Sir Topham Hatt immediately fainted. This concoction of railway engineering became known as "Frankensteam's monster".

MrMilkDuctor: I was born in the 2000s so i I didn’t even watch the reruns from 1993 - 1998, as I said the only time I watch shining time STS was probably on a unknown channel but hey that’s cool to hear

dtchapman1: I suppose that is one thing we do have to consider on this forum now. We are pretty much at a point that new members are going to have grown up largely with the HiT era.

Two Red Engines: Me, I was born in '96. I didn't really see the episodes when they were first broadcast (Dad's job took us overseas), but I had several VHS tapes from S1-8 - including the AUS releases of Thomas & Gordon, Percy & Harold, Trust Thomas,...

Sept 21, 2021 23:37:21 GMT
Two Red Engines: Thanks! I think I managed to keep most of them (mainly the individual S1-4 releases, as well as my Series 5 box set), as well as two DVDs, an S1-5 compilation ('Truck Loads of Fun') and a Series 6 release, ('The Chocolate Crunch')...
Sept 21, 2021 23:41:07 GMT
Two Red Engines: ...but some were lost to time, and others (mainly the S8 releases!) were just simply given away. Still have about 5 VHS releases (6 if you count the fact that my S5 box set came with two tapes) and those two DVDs, though, so not too bad in my opinion.
Sept 21, 2021 23:42:55 GMT
Two Red Engines: Say, anyone still got copies of their Railway Series books? Me, I've still got my 1997 edition of 'The Complete Collection' (the Gawdry version!), as well as RWS volumes 31, 32 and 40 (along with some stories from RWS 28 and 30 from the TTTE Book Club).

Sept 22, 2021 10:15:53 GMT
MrMilkDuctor: Or did I just read that in a wrong way
Sept 22, 2021 10:19:38 GMT
whosgeoffrey: I'm personally inclined to think of it as just another one of Allcroft's very heart-warming messages to the adult fanbase. If she is doing something new with Thomas, I doubt it'll be new episodes, though — maybe the biography she mentioned some time ago?
Sept 22, 2021 12:36:14 GMT
MrMilkDuctor: Yeah that could be true
