The First Episode will be Pastures Old. Christopher helped me write it, consider it a "collaboration". I gave the basis for the idea, wrote it up, and he edited and tidied it up and made sure it felt like a Thomas story!
The cast lists will be updated on the profile, so I don't have to crowd this thread. This post is essentially to notify people and get them interested in helping voice the series.
Here's a bit of info, the series will be presented in HD quality on Youtube, so that's definitely something to look forward to!
The visual quality of your work is quite good, and therefore, I agree with the above statement that this could be one of the best (if not the best considering the effort that's gone into it) Trainz or MSTS related series on YouTube. Right enough - considering the poor quality and general laziness of most productions on YouTube, you're setting a high bar by their standards!
One thing I disliked though and it's a gripe I have with a lot of productions we've done since we begun doing them is this mixture of British / American voices... kinda grates on me - didn't sit right in Magic Railroad, and it doesn't sound right here either. But then, that's a general thing - overall, well done with your production work, it's looking good.
As per the voices, it's near-on impossible for me to find an all British cast by myself. I'd love to do that, but a lot of people don't have time or they are working on something else.
Personally, I don't think I have a choice. Too much of a variety of people audition for my productions. I will be recycling roles around for the first couple episodes so I can see who I like and who I don't.
I've seen plenty of MST Trainz "redubs" and "remakes" before on YT, but I have a very strong feeling this will surpass them all! Very splendid work for the first episode, mate. Makes me quite proud to have helped with the scripting - and I secretly hope it won't be the last!
Although a few helpful tips of my own to share: I liked the use of music here, although there were of plenty long pauses that could have made room for a couple of "stings" or short instrumentals to move things along. Probably something to consider for Episode 2.
Also, I did notice a small goof - Henry being in his new shape rather than his old in the flashback. Then again, it was a common mistake David and his Crew made, too, for Series 1 themselves.
I hope i don't sound like too much a whiner Skarloey123, but I can't watch your Paul's Story video because Megaupload and Sendspace say that the file can't be download because it has expired due to inactivity.
Hey everyone, Christopher and I are back with a new story for my series on Youtube. In light of my recent fascination with the Narrow Gauge engines, I thought it only proper to do a story based on them. Tell your friends!
Here is the cast list (as edited by Christopher):
Note: These are the people who auditioned for each. 'Cept Christopher.
Sir Handel/Falcon - Luke M. Smith, Duke - Christopher (eh? ) Stuart - Duncan - Rusty - Sodor18, Awesome Western Engine, Driver - Coaches -
I made a film that is not like any other Thomas story. The purpose I am trying to get across is that I want everyone, including myself, to see Thomas from a different perspective. Thomas episodes are always known for having bright colors, optimistic story lines, and happy endings for most stories. I wanted to turn that around and experience it from a perspective of sadness and despair.
I realize this may be in bad taste, so anyone that deems it necessary may remove this post.
PercyFan1998: I think for me the issue is one of inconsistency. They took down the restored versions that have the highest quality image but will leave the lower-quality uploads all over the place.

zeldatheswordsm: Except that if you put it that way, it is consistent: They're specifically targeting the higher-picture-quality restored versions. Because gee, what's up on the streaming services and for sale on new-pressed disks? The restored versions

zeldatheswordsm: They're trying to force you to head to the paid options if you want to get the good picture quality.
May 7, 2021 1:09:31 GMT
zeldatheswordsm: Of course, in some ways the joke's on them because a lot of those restorations have worse editing and/or use inferior takes compared to the broadcast/VHS versions.

zeldatheswordsm: IMO Mattel would profit a lot more if they slashed the merch licensing fees. They were damagingly high even by the time of buyout, and have gotten worse since. And the bloated price tags have been definitely hurting sales from what I've seen.
May 7, 2021 1:16:28 GMT
zeldatheswordsm: Sales of a lot of the Bachmann Thomas rolling stock seemed to plummet as the prices jacked up based on the discontinuations (And I suspect the same hit the Hornby range even worse). And the Wooden Railway range had vanished from non-TRU bigbox stores (tbc)

zeldatheswordsm: in my area by 2015, and its shelf presence had been shrinking leading up to then. Thomas' shelf presence in general seems to have diminished a fair bit, and I imagine this is the cause. HiT and Mattel failing at distribution of the show can't have helped
May 7, 2021 1:24:55 GMT
toadthegwrbrakevan: HiT actually distributed the show very well in my opinion, good merchandise, Thomas was definitely more popular and well-to-do during the Miller era than during BWBA or today. But I agree for everything else, I'm curious about what you say about TWR,
May 7, 2021 2:53:36 GMT
toadthegwrbrakevan: growing up, the bigbox store never sold TWR, I could only get it at Barnes & Noble or Toys'R'Us, it was too expensive for Walmart or Target, that was Trackmaster territory.
May 7, 2021 2:54:29 GMT
zeldatheswordsm: For a while, Target and Mall Wart actually did stock it and decently. At least where I am. But that was in decline. Probably didn't help that Thomas-size engines were around $15
May 7, 2021 4:35:16 GMT
zeldatheswordsm: And I mean that HiT did a poor job distributing the show itself - the actual episodes. They got complacent about seeking alternatives to PBSKids even as viewing there (and govt. support) slipped into decline - and Mattel continued this complacency.
