Ever had an event where you cone in contact with a human being who is not educated in the world of Thomas? I have..... here are a few stories to share:
Once, at a bootsale, I was examining a seller's ERTL items. I moved an ERTL Lofty from Bob the Builder aside, and Mr. Bootsale seller tried to convice me that Lofty was a character from the Thomas the Tank Engine series.
When I took my Thomas bag in to school, one of the girls tried to convince me that Thomas was Percy.
Of course, there's the infamous "Toby the Truck"....
Generally browsing eBay, just about any vehicle with a face on it can be passed off as "one of Thomas the Tank's mates".... yeah, sure.
Also on eBay:
Henry the Helicopter Percy the Bus James and the Troublesome Trunks A listing of 2 engines, titled "Thomas and Percy", yet with a picture of Thomas and Bertie.... Horny Pervy Steadie Eddie and Theodore Tugboat (etc) as Thomas's ERTL companions....

I was once looking at an Ertl Trevor at a jumble sale (I was planning to convert it into a regular traction engine for my model railway), and the stallholder said that if I was interested in that, she also had the Thomas 'Sunshine', and showed me the Tugs character. So near, and yet so far from the correct series... I ended up buying Sunshine anyway- those things are collectable.
Plus, have you seen how many sites talk about "Thomas the Train"?
'Thomas the Train' drives me mad. I hear people refer to him as that, but one example, is the 60 years edition of Thomas the Tank Engine book. The synopses talks about Thomas and his other 'train' friends. They are NOT trains, they are locomotives or engines. Annie and Clarabel are his train, or the express, or whatever. In that same publication, it also credits C. Reginald Dalby as illustrator of the book, but that's Egmont for you I suppose.
We are sorry to announce, that the 10.22 service to Tidmouth has been cancelled. This is due to an engine refusing to come out of a tunnel.
There are all sorts of irritating mistakes on ebay. Alot of sellers can't seem to spell Awdry. They have the book right in front of them, yet they still spell it Audrey. Others insist on calling the Railway Series the 'Thomas and Friends' books, while others advertise a first edition of a certain book, which turns out to be a 1998/9 edition in the disliked format.

There was a critic- a critic, mark you, someone who has to know his stuff before venturing an opinion- who thought that Christopher Awdry created Daisy, Diesel, Harold and Mavis. Which he used to back up his claim that the "Rev W. B. Awdry" only created old-fashioned male characters. When I wrote my dissertation, I was able to pad it out significantly by looking at what previous critics had said about the Railway Series and proving that they clearly hadn't actually read the books.
I remember having a Thomas Bean Bag when I was younger and the strange thing about it was that Percy was Red not Green. Thomas, Edward & James were done right. Also another thing that was different was that all 4 engine had really red cheeks. Sorry I don't have a picture of it as it burst when I was 9 so it was basically thrown in the bin. Dose anyone else know about this because I have recently seen a children's toy chest which had exactly the same pictures as the bean bag I had in a 2nd hand shop in Sunderland.

Ten Cents Too: I don't know if I should mention this here, but I find that when I access the forum, even when not logged in, it takes a while for ANY forum page to load. I just wanted to let someone know, in case this is a recurring problem. Thank you.

Ten Cents Too: I don't think so. Every other site loads fine.

Chris: Good to know it's not just me. I've been having similar issues for a few weeks. Pages really slow to load when using home internet (TalkTalk) but fine on mobile (Vodafone), so it seems to vary depending on the internet provider...

Chris: After further investigation, this might actually be a browser based issue rather than ISP one. As mentioned, the forum was slow at home when I was using Firefox. Switched to Microsoft Edge just now and it was fine. Which browser are you guys using?

ThomasandMatt: I use a mixture of Chrome on my desktop at home, and my safari app on my iPhone when I'm out and about. Very rarely do I access it on any other browser. I also have the Tapatalk app where the Forums are hosted.

Vought Sikorsky: Hm, so it seems the problem with forum pages loading slowly isn't just something entirely on my end. I use Google Chrome and I've noticed that disconnecting, and then reconnecting to the internet connection speeds up loading pages tenfold.

LNERandBR: It's not the only railway that needs to cover its costs and is unable to due to the current shutdown. The Talyllyn has an appeal running as does the Fairbourne, I'm sure many others will follow suit shortly.

Ian: ^ Agreed. Severn Valley, North York Moors... quite a list now. Other heritage attractions too- Black Country Living Museum popped up on Facebook this morning. Very worrying time for so many- fingers crossed they can hold out until we all get back out there

BNSF1995: Steven Universe came to an end tonight. In the final four episodes, Steven was corrupted into a Godzilla-like monster, he was talked down, he FINALLY kissed Connie, and he left Beach City, possibly forever.
