No progress since my last update in my modelling thread on here in July. Partly due to mojo and partly due to doing other things. I've been doing more with Lego recently, but none of that is Thomas/Railway Series related, so not posted about that on here at all. I expect it'll be December before I try and get some more done to any of my layouts.
I never commented on your last post about the 812 [click for those that missed it]. The print looks brilliant. Hopefully by the time you've got the chassis and tender done, I'll have got nearer to completing the N gauge E2s that I bought ages ago so that I can start thinking about buying some of your OO models.
And quoting so people see it, Knuckles' most recent video update on his Norramby layout:
Thanks for the quote. Bit by bit we get there, keeping mojo up is hard. Completing everything takes ages too, especially doing everything solo. By everything I mean all the designing, printing, building of SCC stuff on top of stuff for the layouts plus side projects plus loft work in preparation for 4mm layouts plus life's other requirements and persuits.
The pace changes constantly. Some weeks I'm really productive and other's rather lazy!
Seems you maybe are feeling similar with the other interests. Would be good if there was a way to easily switch activities with the mindset to match.
For a basic effect on the backscene, I think what you've done looks okay. I don't know if it looks different in real life compared to on the video, but I'd say that shade of blue is pretty good for the sky.
Bung a comment! Twitter seems so much more active than SiF these days, but don't ever want this place to pop, seems a lot quicker to upload these and paste here though. I consider here one of my homes.
Made a nice job of the water crane. Turntable is looking good too. Shame about some of your locos having difficulty with it. My Uncle built and put one of those turntables on one of my old layouts once and that always had a bit of tight spot when rotating it. Never heard one squeak as much as yours though, but then I don't think I've seen that many in operation to be able to compare it to. Forgot to say after the other vids; I like the basic style of the new backscene. Sky is effective with the cloud effects to it.
Thanks, the turnable is mostly free, sounds worse than it is but I think it just needs oil. Going Warley tomorrow (Sunday) so might buy the new Peco motor for it....or maybe the cheaper Expo one although that apparently is a bit noisy. Loco's only have a small struggle because my track laying there isn't the best. Such an extreme bodge to get the well level was challenging. Also as I'm using Finetrax Code 40 rail there and the turntable isn't designed for it.
Sky is super simple but I think works, better than just the wall!
Because in practice the chassis don't come out that good IMO on the Photon so I've took the option away. Different 3D printing technology produces different results. Loco and tender bodies are good but I'm not happy with the chassis so they Shapeways only for now.
In the mean time I'm going to be spending time learning the 2D side of things as I want nice metal milled or etched chassis for them.
The 3D printed chassis were only ever in my mind supposed to be a stop gap anyway but over the past few years, being busy doing everything it hasn't happened yet. Must change that.

Great to see Norramby progressing, can't be too far off completion now Been hoping to see some progress with Possy's Donal & Dougie but in the meantime congrats on the tender job. If you can find the time put me down for a G3 sized tender package while i've still got my lambing wages
ShiningTime95: Thanks for the shout-out, DmayExpress! I was about to promote it here in the shoutbox as well. It's my thoughts on the subject of a certain leak that recently happened...

jimzebmk1: Genuinely devastated to hear of Michael Angelis' passing. Such a huge part of my childhood, as I'm sure he was for everyone here. RIP Michael, you will be sorely missed by us all. Job well done, and thanks again for everything you did.

9: I'm not sure if now is an appropriate time to mention this, but I would also like to announce that I have raised £416.225 for the Bluebell Railway, by virtually rowing the distance of the English Channel.

Sleeper Agent: Gotta say Ringo will always be may fave but Michael was a most worthy successor and likewise sad that he has gone. Btw Engineerrailman you can edit and delete shouts on Probaords if you wish to combine the two.
