After a little bit of thought and selling off most of my thomas/railway collection, I've decided to stick in the fanbase for now and reorganise my modelling projects. Fingers crossed that I'll have some work out soon to make up for my sabbatical.

Just to clarify that though I'm generally on and off much these days, I'll be away for the next three days without internet access as I'm working a project taking place over the weekend and Monday. So until either Monday night or Tuesday morning, I hope everyone has a enjoyable weekend.
Just to clarify that I home now after my three day weekend away from home.
Thanks to The Adventure Begins my interest in the fandom has reignited so I'm gonna try and be more active around here. There's so much to catch up on and I'd love to catch up with some of the people on here I haven't spoken to in over 6-7 years.
Hello hello everyone it's been about two years since I last checked in, figured I'd do it again. I read all of my old posts from 2009-2008 and had a bad case of secondhand embarrassment... And yet, here I am. I joined this place seven years ago. kinda surprised it's still around... but there are posts from 2005 on here so i'm also not really surprised. (can't say i became any less contradictory since 2008) as of now, I recently turned 18. i'm getting ready to graduate high school and head off to college I'll be studying studio art at a nearby community college for the next two years. i'm 19th in my class out of 166 students and the community college will pay my tuition because of it. after that, i hope to study video game design and animation at fairleigh dickinson university in northern new jersey C:
coming here again gave me quite the nostalgia. it's also nice seeing some familiar faces. maybe, just maybe i'll actually try to stay around and post more often.
I'll keep this short. I've been away because of real life stuff and not being able to be as involved in the fandom as I once was. This was mostly due to Uni and work, which I'm sure some people here can relate to. Since I did my degree I've got a job on a building site and looking to getting a counterbalance truck license, and I've started writing fan fiction again, which I will post up here as soon as I can. Recent events have encouraged me to get back into the fandom once again. So, I'm back, hit me up if you want to chat, and I look forward to re-connecting with the fandom once again.
Regards, Tayhan (I should really change this name).
The Iron Road is a hard road and the work is never ending...
To let everyone know, I will be vacationing at Myrtle Beach from Aug. 15 to Aug. 22. There is wi-fi at the beach house where I’ll be staying at, but if I’m unable to access it for some reason, I’ll be back on SiF on Aug. 23.
EDIT: I managed to access the wi-fi at the beach house. My absence is now null and void.
I'm living in Tucson, AZ for the time being and recently became involved with a guy who has two series on YouTube. One is a music review series called '2Beats+' where we spend every episode reviewing an artist's entire discography and discussing the changes that were made over the course of their career thus far. That one also includes a little humor to keep things interesting. The other show, 'Lost Media Chronicles', is more factual and is made in conjunction with The Lost Media Wiki. Very fascinating site if you haven't checked it out. This show is the most popular of the two. The regular host decided to hand it off to me for one episode to express my creativity and see how I do. As this year marked the 70th anniversary of The Railway Series, I got his approval to make an episode based on not only one, but two pieces of lost media relating to the series. I'm going with the only episode of the planned TV Series from the '50s and "Barry The Rescue Engine". Watch this post and I'll update with a link to the episode once it's up. If either show sounds interesting to you, here's a link to the YouTube channel.
I've gone through a lot of life changes since I was last here. I just realized it's been about 4 years since I posted anything! Couldn't believe that. In that time, I got engaged, then we realized we were both crazy to think it could ever work out and that fell apart (even though it was a mutual split and I gained a very dear friend out of it), I worked in home healthcare for awhile, felt like I was meant for better things and left that field, and moved out here to be close to my Mom, who got a job and relocated here last year. It's a very lovely town and I'm planning on sticking around for awhile. Speaking of sticking around, I also plan on spending more time here now. I've missed every one of you and I'm already happy to be back.

Kipperflewaway, formerly known as Sierracat. Or as I like to call those years of my life, "my anime fangirl phase wherein I had no sense of shame." When I heard about Seasons 17-19 of Thomas and Friends and how they were apparently a return to form for the series, I decided to take a look at some episodes and whoops my obsession came back with a vengeance. So I decided it was high time to return to the best TTTE community on the net. I'll probably be lurking more than posting for a while as I get re-acclimated, but I'm glad to be back nonetheless.
Tomorrow at 10:00 a.m., I'm going to be leaving for Boy Scout Camp for ten days, from June 25th to July 4th. I most likely will not be able to access the Forums while I'm down there. So don't have too much fun without me
MrMilkDuctor: Mine Is Lady her paint job looks really nice she didn’t really have many appearances but she looked cute .

Nicholas: There's a lot of focus on female characters being 'cute' or beautiful going hand in hand with how good a character they are. Curious perceptions of what validates popularity and favourability for females, to me! There are many other traits to appreciate.
Oct 23, 2021 13:46:21 GMT
Inkwright: If only Lady had appeared more! Also, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Ashima is something just pure.
Oct 23, 2021 14:27:50 GMT
The Thomas Cynic: Absolutely agreed, Nicholas. People get mad at writers (I'm mostly talking outside of Thomas here lol) when they make girls too stereotypically feminine, and they also get mad when they try and make them a stereotypically "strong" female character.
Oct 23, 2021 19:37:06 GMT
whosgeoffrey: I think that there's a general feeling in TV and film writing today that it one writes a female character (or a character in any other minority) that is intended to have major character flaws or is supposed to be disliked, then the audience is sexist — 1/2
Oct 25, 2021 15:23:51 GMT
whosgeoffrey: — or racist or homophobic or bigoted in some other way for disliking said character. I think Thomas and BWBA especially are extreme examples of this — the writers didn't want to write harmful characters but swung so violently in the other direction — 2/?
Oct 25, 2021 15:26:59 GMT
whosgeoffrey: — that the female characters are flat and uninteresting. Personally I am of the opinion that representation of oppressed minorities on TV can not be truly authentic unless said minorities can be any sort of character: hero or villain or neither.

OJ: Rebecca had a goof law to begin with but it felt like it got suddenly taken away. Daisy has always been an entertaining character and so has Marion.
Oct 25, 2021 18:04:43 GMT
Inkwright: The first Thomas episode I ever saw in my life will be 30 years old on Friday...Man, do I love Trust Thomas
Oct 25, 2021 18:19:23 GMT
wildnorwester: The series really has been going for a while, hasn't it?
Oct 25, 2021 19:38:07 GMT
Inkwright: Yes indeed. I'm glad this series is living in my heart stronger than ever this year, and Trust Thomas is a contributing factor to that.
Oct 25, 2021 19:40:46 GMT
Madness: A goof law? What do you mean by that OJ?
Oct 26, 2021 0:09:27 GMT
Inkwright: I bet he means that she started with a typical clumsy trope.
Oct 26, 2021 0:50:39 GMT
The Thomas Cynic: Even the goof law doesn't even count a character flaw for me, rather it's a character imperfection. A character flaw is something that makes the character less perfect, and if someone IRL said that being clumsy makes you less perfect, they'd be clobbered.
Oct 26, 2021 5:37:45 GMT
Inkwright: Good point. What I do believe is that Rebecca could've potentially had more grounded character flaws, yet Mattel didn't see the bigger picture. So in the end, the character was never meant to be perfect which all adds to her purpose within the franchise.
Oct 26, 2021 14:05:33 GMT
OJ: Sorry typo I meant a good flaw. I'd rather Rebecca was the worrywart than Henry. I like to think Henry would go back to his original personality eventually.
Oct 26, 2021 15:04:23 GMT
The Thomas Cynic: Well now I look like an idiot lol. Ima just make "goof law" a term now.
Oct 26, 2021 15:59:16 GMT
Inkwright: Lol imagine that being used on your YouTube channel.
Oct 26, 2021 16:41:16 GMT
WaltWiz1901: Re: "Trust Thomas" turning 30 on the 29th: the episode (as well as seven other S3 episodes) actually made its world premiere on UK home video on November 11th
Oct 26, 2021 19:08:36 GMT
Inkwright: Huh, Wikipedia said the 29th is the TV air date
