Not surely if there's already a Thread in existent somewhere, but its something that's been playing around my mind for a while now so I'd thought I'd take the plunge and throw it out there.
So, obviously we know that Wilbert hasn't been with us since the last century and Christopher is getting on in years but the simple question is if you could ask either them anything about the world which the Father created and the Son expanded, what would it be?
For me personally, I always wanted to know how Wilbert decided when creating the characters what colour they would be i.e. why did he decide to pick Red for James or Blue for Gordon. Obviously I know Christopher gave a good explanation as to why Jock was Yellow along with the name, and I'm to assume that the Great Western engines colours were obviously from the Great Western Railway of time. But with some of his core characters, its always intrigued me because as someone who does writing I find the Awdry's idea of his their characters a variety of different paintworks quite inspiring.
So feel to reveal what you'd like to ask the Awdrys if you could. Obviously nothing distasteful. If any have met Christopher because I know some probably have, then feel free to share what you intriguing question you asked him.
P.S. If this thread seems deemed as unnecessary, then feel free to close it.

As I recall, Blue with red lining is the standard livery for the NWR. James' red paint was supposed to help him feel better after his accident after which he would be repainted blue. I get the impression that James was left red was readers were primarily telling character apart by their colour. During the time Henry was blue, Awdry received several letters complaining that they couldn't tell Henry from Gordon. So Awdry decided James needed to keep his red coat to prevent confusion, which is probably the reason he added numbers later on too.
I would love to know what the awdrys thought of shining time station. Particularly Wilbert, and the kids
I am not personally convinced they would have liked it given Dr slaby's advice to soften the rough edges of the 1940s text. i mean this is a man (Wilbert) who once said of Andrew Lloyd Webber's adaptation "once the Americans get hold of it the whole series would immediately be vulgarised and ruined
also when you really think about it after reading ttttem (thanks Brian sibley), shining time station played a big part in making the show bigger than the source materiel and causing all the things that older fans are frustrated by but the target demographic loves. (Thomas being front and center at the cost of other characters, the awdrys having less creative control, etc). as they were what was in shining time station.
that is what i got out of the story, but i could be wrong, the only way we will know for sure is if someone (ryan maybe) asks one of the awdrys.
One thing that I've always wondered, is what did he think of Series 4?
We know that he liked the first 2, and was mixed about the third, and unfortunately never saw anything past the fifth, but generally speaking, S4 did closely follow the books, with the exception of 1 episode, and Stepney now being a Sodor property...... and the obvious Skarloey Railway livery change; but what were his actual thoughts?
On a side note, all merchandise (outside of the RWS) that featured a Skarloey Railway engine was always depicted with a red livery before the release of S4, which changed to their TV series colours after their release. They did a backwards Rosie!
crosby: what do you mean?

Sleeper Agent: As in the (UK) phone company. After x amount of seconds the site goes to a competition winner address. Had similar problems about two years ago but it's only on this forum it happens.

Sleeper Agent: Yes pretty annoying trying to read a post or start a reply only to have the page disappear! @geeb, no worries. The time window is over now but you can sift through the questions & replies on FaceBook, won't satisfy everyone on Twitter but it's something.
